RE: Important info for band families attending football games

The following rules and regulations apply to all spectators at football games. That means all family members of band students regardless of whether they are volunteering or not. I have highlighted in bold any changes to our typical procedures. Please read thoroughly. Thank you! – Ms. Gilmore

Stadium Entrance & Weapons Detection

• All spectators must enter through the front/main stadium entrance and pass through the WCPS weapons detection system.

• WCPS employees may utilize their WCPS employee badge for admission but are still required to enter through the designated entrance and follow security procedures.

• Spectators should not be permitted to enter through alternate gates or bypass weapons detection.

• Lost, forgotten, photographed, copied, or duplicated passes will not be honored.

• Weapons detection applies to all attendees, including individuals receiving complimentary admission unless they are specifically identified as authorized event personnel under these procedures. (This would apply to band students arriving after our standard arrival time of an hour before the game- don’t be late!)

• No verbal claim of affiliation with a band, team, school, event, or WCPS is sufficient for complimentary admission or alternate-gate access. (See Band Parents/Band Helpers section)

No Re-Entry (no changes, still important)

There is no re-entry into Wicomico County Stadium once a spectator leaves the stadium.

• The home team AP of Athletics, Principal, or designee may use professional judgment when an unusual or extenuating circumstance warrants an exception. In these circumstances, the spectator will be required to purchase an additional ticket for re-entry.

• If a spectator needs to briefly exit the stadium for an emergency or essential reason, such as retrieving necessary medication from a vehicle, the exception must be approved by the AP of Athletics or Principal. In these circumstances, an administrator will accompany the spectator to and from the vehicle, and an additional ticket will not be required.

• Event staff, ticket takers, coaches, volunteers, or other personnel may not independently authorize re-entry or allow a spectator to leave and return.

Band Parents / Band Helpers- all new!!!

• Each participating band will receive 10 Band Helper Passes for parent volunteers assisting with the band.

• The Band Director will determine who receives the 10 passes.

• The pass provides complimentary admission only and does not allow the individual to bypass stadium security.

• All band parents/helpers must enter through the front entrance and pass through weapons detection, regardless of whether they have a Band Helper Pass.

• Band parents/helpers without a Band Helper Pass or WCPS employee badge will be required to purchase admission.

• Band Helper Passes do not authorize access through the back gate.
