Weekly Update - 8/9/2026
Happy Sunday everyone!!!
1 week of band camp completed and week 2 underway!!! I hope everyone is well rested and ready to go tomorrow morning! Again, and as always, thank you so much for all of the donations/volunteering throughout the first week of band camp. This week will be a hot one, so please make sure the kiddos come prepared! Week 2 band camp sign-ups will be attached to this email and is available on the band app and our Facebook page. A few notes from Ms. Gilmore:
Attendance & arriving on time: Students should not be missing rehearsals unless absolutely necessary. Please provide a note 2 weeks in advance if your student is going to miss practice. Every minute is valuable and every student is priceless. Please allow your student 15 minutes before practice starts to get ready. That means if camp starts at 8am, they should be in the band room at 7:45 am. We will be incentivizing arriving by 7:45 am this week to encourage students to be on time!!!
Shorebirds Fundraiser: LAST CALL!!! All sales must be collected by 5pm on Monday. Student tickets are $11 and all other tickets are $16. Let's turn in as many as we can to raise some money for the band season!
We received an offer from 'Vibes Hi-Fidelity' earplugs (as featured on Shark Tank; for a 50% off discount per pair. James M Bennett HS students and their family members are eligible to purchase Vibes Hi-Fidelity Earplugs at the price of $16.95/pair, discounted from the standard price of $34.95/pair. All orders must be placed by the end of day on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026. The earplugs will be distributed by staff to the students who have placed orders. See Link below:
Reminders:
Booster Meeting on Thursday, Aug. 13th @ 7pm. We will be having a door raffle for all parents that attend and you must stay until the end of the meeting in order to win! I promise, I won't keep you that long! We have a lot of topics to share with you all and we can't wait to see you there.
Parent show: Friday, Aug. 14th @ 6pm Come one, come all to witness the greatness that our kiddos learned while in band camp for the past 2 weeks! Spirit merch will be sold that evening. Can't wait to see the hard work that they have put in thus far.
Committee List: We have compiled a list of volunteers for the 2026-27 school year. Please let us know if you are still willing to commit to those duties or if you'd like someone to shadow you or just pass on to a newcomer. We value any time and/or commitment that you provide to the band. List attached
Discount Card fundraiser-:Our annual discount card fundraiser begins at the end of this week!!!! Get excited. We will discuss this topic in detail at the booster meeting on Thursday evening.
County Fair volunteers: There will be sign-up sheets available to the kiddos starting tomorrow, however, the link went out for us parents/guardians last week, via band app and Facebook. We are seeking volunteers to assist with parking for the county fair and to sell our discount cards and will be working in shifts.

Back-to-school is slowly upon us and I don't know about you, but I'm a little sad to see summer come to an end! However, I'm super excited about this band season!!! Let's gooooooooo!!!!
